Marcomé (pop world, new age music)
Marcomé pronounced (Marko-may) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, producer and can be considered a sound magician. She graduated in Sound Engineering in 1986 and started working at Studio Tempo with renowned producer Ian Terry (2 Juno Awards). In 1996, Marcomé became Head Engineer of SNB Mastering in Montreal, giving her the opportunity to work with many renowned artists such as Pat Metheny, Bryan Adams, Yes, Cecilia Bartolo, Tom Waits and Celine Dion.
Gifted with a beautiful voice, Marcomé began creating her own music in the 90’s, as well as producing, arranging, remixing and engineering it too. Marcomé sings in her unique wordless languages, allowing the listener to escape into an atmospheric world of sound and texture. Marcomé’s music is a unique hybrid blend of pop meets world with jazz, new age, while anchored with strong bass lines and percussions all wrapped by her soothing layered keyboards and classical style vocals.
Marcomé ‘s debut album entitled Seven Seas was released in Canada, USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East in 1995 and received critical acclaim. Co-produced with Michel Robidoux (Frank Zappa), this album incorporates keyboards, fretless bass and traditional world beat instruments. Marc Langis (Celine Dion), on fretless bass, Michel Donato (Oscar Peterson, Toots Thieleman), on counterbass and Michel Dupire (Roch Voisine), on percussions.
Marcomé’s strength lies in her ability to weave and create multicolored sounds with strong melodies. In this Marcomé’s sophomore album, River Of Soul succeeds. It is a recording imbued with intimacy and laced with introspection. It was cinematically conceived; it’s a feast for the ears. This album was co-produced with Michel Robidoux (Leonard Cohen) who also adds his exquisite guitar playing to the mix and Martin Lord Ferguson (Cirque Du Soleil). Michel Dupire’s (Sarah McLachlan), sophisticated percussions adds a distinctive touch and rhythm to the overall sound.
