Bio
...writing songs between love and loss...
For some time I have been working on 2 projects:
Songs of Love and Loss: This is a collection of songs about life and love, about finding love and losing it, and you can lose your love in so many ways... Everything I see or read can be an inspiration for me to write a song. I always try to write in a universal way, so that many people can relate to the song. Most people that have listened to my music could not place it in a certain genre, but very often they told me that the music and lyrics sounded like they were from a movie or soundtrack. For this project I have a full cd of songs that are ready in demo form, sung by myself. Since I am fully aware that my own vocal capacities are limited, I am now in the process of re-recording (and sometimes re-arranging) the songs with good vocalist. I was lucky that Ann Van Canegem, an experienced singer with roots in jazz and blues, agreed to contribute to this project. We have recorded four songs together now, and more are on the way. I hope that we will be able to release this project to cd in the near future. I think the themes are strong and though the music is not mainstream, but yet very accessible. I am pretty sure there is an audience for this music, we just have to find each other. I hope that eventually, also other singers will be interested to cover these songs. My dream is to write a universal love song, that everybody will remember, and that still will be played long after I am gone...
Relics: My second project is called "Relics" and is a collection of instrumental songs (or only vocalising voices). It is a more introspective kind of music, with a classical touch. Between the different parts, there is a short piece (Relics II) that returns each time in a different form.
