Biography
Alan J Moore is one of North Yorkshire's rising composers. His music can be heard on feature films, short films and corporate video. He is a music graduate, music teacher, and holds a diploma in Media Composition from the Film Music Institute of Los Angeles/Music For The Media. Alan utilizes samples of real instruments combined with more esoteric sounds to create memorable soundtracks perfectly matched with the visual images.
Alan has just completed a feature-length film called THE SPELL, which premiered in Leeds in September, 2009. Its director, Owen Carey Jones, has worked with Alan before on another award-winning feature film, A MIND OF HER OWN (Crystal Heart Award). Alan was entered for the ‘Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Film Music‘ at BAFTA.
Composing for feature-length films is a 'dream come true' for Alan who has always admired the works of John Barry, Danny Elfman and John Williams.
Alan's music has also been heard on a US community TV channel, an animated film, The Leeds Young People's Film Festival and the VoxNovus 60x60 Project.
Alan's PHOENIX score has played on the largest cinema screen in Europe (the ‘BFI London IMAX Cinema‘).
In addition, his song THE BELL was a Runner-Up in the 'John Lennon Songwriting Contest' and a Finalist in the 'Song of the Year' contest. He has also won Runner-Up and Finalist positions in the 'UK Songwriting Contest.'
Alan is a music graduate and teacher and has taught music and drama for many years, as well as playing keyboards in rock bands across the North of England. He also works with young people as Musical Director on shows and musical productions.
