Bio
Leslie Clark
Leslie Clark hit the ground running as a singer songwriter at 18, writing jingles for a TV producer and lyrics for a hit songwriter, Mort Garson (who co wrote “Our Day Will Come”). She commuted to Beverly Hills on weekends to work on redraft lyrics, mentally bought her Jag XJS and waited for the money to roll in. Her song “Poor Baby” was released on an independent L.A. record label, but success didn't prove the waterslide she had thought it would be.
She moved to New York and played open mics and venues around town. Wanderlust drew her to travel to Japan for three tours. (Her experiences there could fill an entertaining memoir.) She played music in Paris, England, Thailand and India, gathering experiences that would enrich her songs. 'twixt forays into the blue yonder, she worked as a secretary for corporate America, scoring arrangements over her lunch hour and keeping the dream alive of some day being a full time songwriter. In her spare time, she produced demos and CDs in the studio as well as doing backing vocals for other artists. Her work hit a new level with the release of her CD "Dream" (2006, CDBaby.com).
With the passage of time, her writing has gained power and depth and, through Taxi, Clark's songs are now available to other artists, film and TV productions. She performs around Southern Oregon, and at music festivals in the pacific northwest. Her performances are enhanced by her use of the Boss RC-50 Loop Station which allows her to lay down live harmony vocals.
