The Past

Born on October 29, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas. I have been around music since day one. My mother Helen played the guitar and organ. She also wrote and sang her own songs in nightclubs in the Phoenix area during the 1960’s. As early as 10 years old, I started going out with her while she performed with the likes of Waylon Jennings and Marty Robbins.

I started with guitar lessons at 8, but gave it up after a year and a half. At age 11, the hottest sound around was “Wipe Out” by The Safaris. A lot of kids got turned on to drums at that time, and I was one of them. My main influences were Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, and the great Ginger Baker.

I got my first paying gig at 14, playing a dance at Palmdale High in 1970. I played drums professionally for over 38 years in almost every type of band. Two most notable are: KATO, a Cream cover band, and MANIC-N, voted "Hottest New Band" in Phoenix for 1985. Videos of both bands can be seen on YouTube under "terrydaun".

My 1969 White Pearl Ludwigs are in the closet now. I've traded them for my Korg Triton Le and M3 keyboards. (Quicker set-up and much more fun to play). My first time on the keys came at an early age on a 1956 Hammond Chord Organ. I think I was 3 when I started playing around on it. Of course, the drums prevailed until 2004. I decided it was time to write, compose and record my legacy.

In August 2006, I released publicly my first album "Game On". 18 songs and 1 instrumental. www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun January 2007, "Taking Flight". 15 instrumentals. www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun2 July 2007, "Dream Inducer". 14 instrumentals. www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun3

This pretty much brings us up to the present. Thank you for your interest in me and my work. Terry Daun July 2007
