David Moench is a composer, guitarist, and sound engineer interested in film-scoring, rock, jazz, and orchestral composition and arrangement. He recently graduated from Wesleyan University with honors in music for his thesis composition/performance: A live musical score to the images and story of Steven Kellogg's picture book The Island of the Skog. Last year David was selected as one of 4 finalists to work with My Big Fat Greek Wedding composer Alexander Janko on a special scoring project, which he presented during a master class at the Northampton community music center. David now lives in New York and spends his time working on Underfur Music (his solo writing and recording project), playing taiko in the Soh Daiko ensemble, and collaborating with Youngbloods playwrighting fellow Anna Moench on mixed-media theater productions. David has worked with Aurasonic Ltd., recording artists such as Dave Brubeck and the Decembrists for NPR at the New Port Jazz and Folk festivals, respectively. He now works at Murray Street productions, which works with New York cultural institutions such as Jazz at Lincoln Center and Symphony Space.
