"Thanks to TAXI I no longer have a day job! The membership fee was a drop in the bucket compared to what I have earned because of TAXI."

EZPowell
EZPowell is an eclectic blend but is slowly becoming more contemporary and marketable. It used to be all me but now includes a pro guitarist and top-class drumming. I still play bass and do the singing, plus arrangement and production - sub-contracting can be expensive. My songwriting is in the Adult Contemporary, Singer-Songwriter and Pop genres, along with some Americana on occasion. Instrumentals are pop, sometimes with a bit of a blues or jazzy tinge when specific chord colors are used.
The industry is experiencing lackluster sales and new sounds are being sought out, such as well-developed, individual styles. My vocals are non-generic and maybe I have something marketable to offer as a performer; but I have to be realistic at 45 years of age so I pitch myself as a performer/songwriter or as a songwriter/composer.
I don't have CD sales to speak of and I perform for fun - I have to make a living and being a professional performer and wondering around the country would be unlikely to feed my kids and fund all my recording equipment. So a sometimes good paying boring day-job finances the music – all I need is time. I am currently in the wrong part of the country for my genre but as the economy improves that will change.
I have been with Taxi for years and find the A&R help has improved my songwriting, after fighting for an acceptable production standard over years of hit and miss (equipment is a big issue) - it's easy to understand why audio engineering requires a degree from Berklee and I have thus started online courses at Berklee.
My long-term intention is to make enough money out of music so that I can immerse myself in music. And as a final note, in an industry that rarely rewards the exceptional and if music is more about persistence than talent then I still have no idea where I fit in but hope to figure it out someday.
Internet Radio Airplay
Good reviews from Internet radio: http://www.ezpowell.com/bedroomeyes/testimonials.html and a web presence on ezpowell.com, myspace.com/ezpowell, youtube.com/ezpowell, and many more - facebook and twitter are not music oriented. After a few years of sending out CDs I have a few DJs who play my stuff on radio still, including an Australian community radio DJ who now manages a group of radio stations, one of those stations has 400,000 listeners. However, as many in the music industry know - that doesn't necessarily help to sell music online, offline or anywhere-else-line.
